Agency Information: Multiservice centre including information and referral, youth drop-in andemployment program, and alternative education drop-in for high needs children,parenting workshops, queer families’ positive space.  Also services forpeople who are homeless, including drip-in with showers, laundry and dailylunch, hostels for men including transitional housing, street outreach andtransportation, case management and support to find permanent housing.

 

 

1.  Social MediaStrategist to guide the organizationin the use of social media as a tool to effect social change and engage varyingstakeholder groups including employees, volunteers, participants, youth,funders, donors and community partners.  We need assistance on usage,integration of Web 2.0 tools, best practices, rules of engagement andmeasurement of social media and platforms to achieve our marketing andcommunications objectives.

 

Duties:  This would requireassistance in planning and executing the organization’s digital presence acrosssocial media and social networking platforms and integrating innovation,creativity, and awareness through relationships with our stakeholders, externalbloggers, participants, partners and national stakeholders.  This includesintegrating our website with social networking tools, blogs, creating afacebook cause page for our organization; Analytics, Monitoring & BackEndDigital Help (e.g. Wordpress.org; update plug-ins/badges/widgets;spam/flow/trackback screening; reputation mgmt; blog optimization, SEO etc.)and engaging a pool of partners/funders/followers.  There is a potentialthis may become a long-term volunteer advisor opportunity as our residenttechnical expert on public web-based technologies.

 

2.  Communications andMarketing Specialist.  Our organization is in desperate need of marketingmaterials to reflect our programs and successes and to coordinate consistentmessaging and branding.  At this time we do not have the marketing talentor resources to undertake this project.  We are therefore seeking aMarketing and Communication professional to assist with the development of acommunications and marketing plan for the organization and to support theexecution of wide-ranging marketing initiatives and in the production of variedprint/online marketing creative pieces.

 

Duties:

  •  Write, design, edit and coordinate production for institutional publications (ie. Bi-annual newsletter, brochure, postcards, flyers, posters, ads, annual    report) as well as donor materials (ie. Email blasts, direct mail appeals, feature stories) 
  •  Write, update and guide strategic direction for the Organization’s main website, as well as campaign microsites, using multiple content  management systems.  Advise on latest trends and new ways to ensure that web content is fresh and messaging and styles are  consistent
  •  Draft and edit press materials, including media advisories, press releases, fact sheets, key messages and assist in media outreach.
  •  Guide us in coordinating film shoots and manage the editing and production of videos and short film clips of the organization’s work
  •  Assist with the conceptualization, organization and promotion of events and campaigns e.g. golf, donor recognition event and identify third party events
  • Monitor and update materials with the latest research and statistics
  • Help us coordinate the work of a wide range of vendors, pro bono partners and volunteers, including graphic designers, printers etc.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY- Youth Assisting Youth- Policy and Procedures Committee

The Policy and Procedures Committee of Youth Assisting Youth is seeking volunteers that have an interest in the area of policy development. This committee is responsible for the research and development of policies and procedures that help guide the agency. Our past projects include the Policy and Procedure Manual, the Child Abuse Awareness Policy, the Infectious Disease Policy, the Access and Equity Policy and Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Policy.

 

We require a commitment of 3 hours per month, for a minimum of one year.

 

Meetings are held in the early evening.  Refreshments are provided. There is free parking available.

United Way member agency Youthlink is looking for help with their Sports Skillz program at North West Scarborough Youth Centre.

 

Volunteer Role:

-         Help lead skill building activities in basketball and soccer for youth 12 to 14 years old

-         Assist the Sports Instructor

-         Help with demonstrations

Location: David Lewis Public School, 130Fundy Bay Blvd, Scarborough

Monday Evenings, 6:15pm – 7:45pm

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY-Volunteer Toronto Fun Dat at Toronto Zoo

Join United Way Toronto member agency, Volunteer Toronto, Disney Destinations, and HandsOn Network for a fun-filled family volunteer day at Toronto Zoo on Tuesday, September 29 from 7:30am to 12 noon. Doors open at 7am.


Volunteer Toronto needs 200 volunteersof all ages to help the zoo's Education and Conservation team make toys that enrich play and feeding time for zoo animals.

Enjoy music, face painting and craft activities and learn about animals and wildlife conservation. Come early, roll up your sleeves, have fun and meet some special Disney guests!

Free parking is available and enjoy free admission to the zoo after the eventends at 12:00 noon.

Free transportation:
We've arranged for a free bus service to and from Toronto Zoo from Don Mills,McCowan and Kennedy subway stations. Buses will depart for Toronto Zoo at 7:15am. After the event, buses will depart from Toronto Zoo back to Don Mills,McCowan and Kennedy subway stations from 12:30pm until 2:00pm.
